CONSERVATORY TEACHER BIO's

ELIZABETH CRAMER - Piano - 414-807-6855 - An award winning composer and pianist, Elizabeth started playing the piano around age 7.  She studied music composition and piano at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under the instruction of Jeffrey Petersen, Elena Abend, Ronald Foster, and Yehuda Yannay.  As a teacher, Elizabeth is able to combine her skill as a pianist, creativity as a composer, and understanding as a psychologist to create a unique learning experience.  Elizabeth uses a person-centered approach in teaching, putting the goals and motivation of the student first.  A teacher for the past 10 years, Elizabeth has had the pleasure of teaching her own private piano studio since 2004 and teaching adult group piano with Steinway Piano Gallery since February 2010.

STEVE GRASSEL - Piano and Keyboard - 262-797-8477 - Steve is a professional pianist with Milwaukee Symphony experience.  He promotes having fun by teaching all styles of music with an emphasis on jazz improvisation.  As a National table tennis gold medal champion, Steve shows the correlation between playing piano and competing in athletics.  He is also experienced with special needs children.

BARBARA HAGON - Piano - 414-232-7357 - Barbara has over 35 years of teaching experience.  She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.  She has completed a three year course of advanced pedagogy work with N. Jane Tan in the Well Prepared Pianist program.  Ms. Hagon works with students of all ages and strives to instill a love of music for a lifetime of enjoyment.  She is a member of numerous music organizations which provide opportunities for her students to perform in auditions, competitions, and recitals.

MARY ANNE HARRIS - Piano - 414-257-0681 - Mary Anne is a native of Georgia, and has been teaching piano in Milwaukee since 1990.  She has 32 years of professional music experience in Georgia, Kentucky, and Wisconsin with emphases in piano teaching and performance and choral conducting.  While in graduate school, Ms. Harris studied piano with Dr. Maurice Hinson (author, Guide to the Pianist's Repertoire) and took courses in piano, vocal and organ pedagogy.  The motto for her studio is "striving for excellence and developing well-rounded musicians."  In addition to teaching piano, Ms. Harris sings with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, directs a church choir and is an avid matrial artist (3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do).  Ms. Harris is a member of various music organizations and her students perform in recitals, auditions, and competitions each year.  Both of her degrees are in music, with her undergraduate degree focusing upon piano performance.

MICHELLE JAYEUN KWON - Piano - 414-395-2534 - Michelle was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, where she practiced and trained in classical piano since the age of 4.  Shortly after arriving in the US, she attended the University of Minnesota where she majored in Piano Performance and continued her passion in piano under the guidance of a world known pianist, Dr. Paul Shaw.  During her studies at the University, she had competed and won top prizes in many local and regional competitions including Thursday Musical and Schubert Club Scholarship competition where she gained many more performance opportunities.  Her teaching experience dates back to 2002.  Over time, she has developed her lesson plans to enhance strong foundations and discipline in classical music training for children as well as to promote efficient and fun learning habits for adults.  As a recent prize winner of the 2010 Badger Collegiate Piano Competition in Madison, Ms. Kwon studies at Cardinal Stritch University for her Master's degree in music performance and plans to perform and teach in the greater Milwaukee area.

AERON OGDEN - Piano - 414-426-3971 -Aeron Ogden is a composer, musician, and educator with 15 years' experience as a successful entrepreneur in the performing arts. A member of American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Mr. Ogden has composed music for theater and commercial projects and is currently writing concept music for a major feature film. He has worked as an accompanist for the Florentine Opera and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Dance Department, has performed for numerous weddings over the last years, and serve as the music director at his church. Mr. Ogden has taught classroom music and workshops and has managed a piano teaching studio since 1994. Mr. Ogden completed a diploma in piano music from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. He then received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano major) from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has studied recording technology and film scoring through the Berklee College of Music and will be graduating from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in August 2009, completing a Master's degree in Music Composition and Technology.

MAGGIE REBERS - Piano - 262-442-7777 - Maggie has been playing piano for twenty-one years.  Since earning her BA in Piano Performance from Wisconsin Lutheran College, she has made a living primarily as a piano teacher and as an accompanist.  She has completed several graduate credits in collaborative piano studies.  She has worked with the Milwaukee Ballet School, Master Singers of Milwaukee, and Truman State University opera productions.  The overall focus of Maggie's teaching is on securing an understanding of basic musical terms and concepts, learning to fluently read music on the page, building strength and agility in the fingers, and eventually becoming familiar with standard classical repertoire.  Some attention to popular music, basic composition/improvisation, ear training, or accompanying.

FRANCIS C. STEENO - Piano/Keyboards/Vocals - 414-405-2156 - www.franthepianoman.com - Fran is a Packer Backer originally from Green Bay, WI.  With college training and years of live performance, Fran brings many fascinating attributes to piano students of all ages.  Currently Fran teaches Classical Methods, Jazz, R&B Techniques, Pop, and lots of ear training.  Fran's special techniques go beyond the normal realm of teaching.  His use of chords and vociing actually enables a student to embellish and become a musical creator.  For early beginners, Fran works well with children, and has them doing marvelously in just weeks.  Teens, adult students, or children, expect professionalism and artistic direction.

DR. STEPHEN SWEDISH - Piano - 414-588-2409 - As an American pianist, Dr. Swedish has built an international reputation as an outstanding  solo performer and a world-class collaborator and chamber music player.  He studied at Indiana University, where his teacher and mentor was pianist Menahem Pressler.  He has served on the artist-faculties of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the University of Maryland and the University of Wisconsin, among others.  Dr. Swedish has collaborated with artists such as cellist Janos Starker, violist William Primrose, viloinist Josef Gingold, and soprano Eileen Farrell.  He is a Steinway Artist and pianist of the newly formed Kapell Trio, and has performed as soloist with many of the world's great symphony orchestras.  Dr. Swedish has taught in Europe and is interested in pianists of all ages with a passion to grow as pianists and artists.

FRED TESCH - Piano - 414-453-9030/262-968-4403 - Mr. Tesch has over 35 years teaching experience. He accepts all ages and levels of experience, from beginner to advanced piano skills. Mr. Tesch holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Piano Performance from UW-Milwaukee. He has also studied at Roosevelt University in Chicago and at the Julliard School of Music in New York. In addition to his busy teaching schedule, Mr. Tesch is an accomplished concert pianist.

MARK THIERFELDER - Piano - 262-271-0702 (cell) or 414-435-3546 (home) - Mark Thierfelder has been a professional performer and teacher for over 30 years.  His performance experience in jazz, pop, and commercial music is extensive.  After attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Mark has spent many years touring both nationally and abroad both as a performer and musical director.  He welcomes students of all ages and skill levels, and specializes in teaching jazz and popular styles, with an emphasis on music theory.
