The Wisconsin Philharmonic - Shining Stars with Seth King-Gengler, Piano

On May 2, 2010, Seth King-Gengler performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 37, C minor with the Wisconsin Philharmonic.  Seth was the winner of the Chapman Piano competition held by the Waukesha Symphony (now the Wisconsin Philharmonic).  This biennial piano competition is open to all Waukesha County piano students age 14 through 20. Each student prepares a selection from the repertoire list to perform by memory. The competition winner receives a cash award and an opportunity to play with the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra.

Seth is an Honor Roll student in his senior year at Waukesha North High School in Waukesha.  He began showing an interest in playing the piano at age 13.  He first studied with Sidney Estenik in his home town for approximately 2 1/2 years.  Then, just before his 16th birthday, Seth was introduced to the world-renowned pianist Stephen Swedish who took an immediate interest in Seth and his talent.  After consulting with Mr. Estenik, Seth began studies with Stephen Swedish.  They continue to work together.  Seth has grown in a very short time to be a gifted creative young artist.

Seth has spent two summers studying at the International Music Academy of Pilsen, in the Czech Republic.  He had a marvelous experience working not only with Stephen Swedish, but with Ivan Moravec, Miroslav Brejcha and other members of the artist faculty in piano.  In addition to his piano studies, Seth has other significant interests in music including conducting, composing, (in which he studies music theory under Jim Machon of Waukesha), jazz piano, the trombone and drums.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Congratulations Seth.
