Steinway Piano Gallery of Milwaukee is pleased to offer music education in a wide variety of styles, including classical, contemporary, jazz and pop/rock.  Our studios have qualified teachers who hold degrees in several areas of music and belong to variou sprofessional associations in Wisconsin.  All studios are set-up with the finest Steinway-family pianos or Roland Digital pianos.

CONSERVATORY TEACHER BIO's

STEVE GRASSEL - Piano and Keyboard - 262-797-8477 - Steve is a professional pianist with Milwaukee Symphony experience.  He promotes having fun by teaching all styles of music iwth an emphasis on jazz improvisation.  As a National table tennis gold medal champion.  Steve shows the correlation between playing piano and competing in athletics.  He is also experienced with special needs children.

BARBARA HAGON - Piano - 414-257-0289 - Barbara holds a BFA degree in piano performance from UW Milwaukee.  She is a member of Music Teachers National Association, National Guild of Piano Teachers, Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, Milwaukee Music Teachers Association (Secretary), Associated Piano Teachers, Wauwatosa MacFadyen Music Club and hte Wisconsin Federation of Music clubs (President of District IV).  Teaching over 20 years, she accepts tudents of all ages.

MARY ANNE HARRIS - Piano - 414-257-0681 - Mary Anne is a native of Georgia, and has been teaching piano in Milwaukee since 1990.  She has 32 years of professional music experience in Georgia, Kentucky, and Wisconsin with emphases in piano teaching and performance and choral conducting.  While in graduate school, Ms. Harris studied piano with Dr. Maurice Hinson (author, Guide to the Pianist's Repertoire) and took courses in piano, vocal and organ pedagogy.  The motto for her studio is "striving for excellence and developing well-rounded musicians."  In addition to teaching piano, Ms. Harris sings with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, directs a church choir and is an avid matrial artist (3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do).  Ms. Harris is a member of various music organizations and her students perform in recitals, auditions, and competitions each year.  Both of her degrees are in music, with her undergraduate degree focusing upon piano performance.

AERON OGDEN - Piano - 414-426-3971 -Aeron Ogden is a composer, musician, and educator with 15 years' experience as a successful entrepreneur in the performing arts. A member of American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Mr. Ogden has composed music for theater and commercial projects and is currently writing concept music for a major feature film. He has worked as an accompanist for the Florentine Opera and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Dance Department, has performed for numerous weddings over the last years, and serve as the music director at his church. Mr. Ogden has taught classroom music and workshops and has managed a piano teaching studio since 1994. Mr. Ogden completed a diploma in piano music from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. He then received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano major) fro Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has studied recording technology and film scoring through the Berklee College of Music and will be graduating from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in August 2009, completing a Master's degree in Music Composition and Technology.

FRANCIS C. STEENO - Piano/Keyboards/Vocals - 414-405-2156 - www.franthepianoman.com - Fran is a Packer Backer originally from Green Bay, WI.  With college training and years of live performance, Fran brings many fascinating attributes to piano students of all ages.  Currently Fran teaches Classical Methods, Jazz, R&B Techniques, Pop, and lots of ear training.  Fran's special techniques go beyond the normal realm of teaching.  His use of chords and vociing actually enables a student to embellish and become a musical creator.  For early beginners, Fran works well with children, and has them doing marvelously in just weeks.  Teens, adult students, or children, expect professionalism and artistic direction.

SAM STEFFKE - Piano - 414-774-8903/414-774-8334 - www.pianosam.com - Sam, a native of the UP, moved to Milwaukee in 1985 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. In addition to performing with many local bands (Eddie Butts, Greg Koch & the Tone Controls, Chameleon) and jazz artists (Penny Goodwin, Manty Ellis, Jessie Hauck), Sam has taught privately in the Milwaukee area for 16 years. Sam accepts students of all ages and levels and specializes in Jazz, Rock and Blues styles as well as instruction in Music Theory. A member of Milwaukee Bucks house band Streetlife for 5 years, Sam won the 2000 W.A.M.I. (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award for keyboardist of the year and recently released his own CD, “This IsMy Real Job.”

FRED TESCH - Piano - 414-453-9030/262-968-4403 - Mr. Tesch has over 35 years teaching experience. He accepts all ages and levels of experience, from beginner to advanced piano skills. Mr. Tesch holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Piano Performance from UW-Milwaukee. He has also studied at Roosevelt University in Chicago and at the Julliard School of Music in New York. In addition to his busy teaching schedule, Mr. Tesch is an accomplished concert pianist.

PAULA TILLEN - Piano - 414-444-9337 - Paula has been a professional musician in the Milwaukee area for the past thrity years.  She has acted as music director for many metropolitan area theatre companies, serving in that capacity for Milwaukee's ComedySportz for eleven years.  Paula is director of music at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Waukesha and is an adjunct faculty member at Milwaukee Pius XI High School, where she is director of the women's chamber choir and staff accompanist.  In addition, she maintains a private piano studio of about 15 students; and remains much in demand as a pianist, vocal coach, and accompanist.  Her students participate annually in festivals sponsored by the Wisconsin State Music Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs.
